Renowned gospel musician Miracle Chinga is set to make her acting debut in the upcoming Malawian movie Royal Dilemma, which will premiere on March 27 2026, at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.

The gospel singer is among several new faces joining the film industry through the movie, which explores themes of royal inheritance and succession in a Malawian cultural setting.

Speaking during a press briefing over the weekend, actress and businesswoman Esther Idah Chabuka said the inclusion of new actors such as Miracle Chinga has created excitement ahead of the premiere.

“We have new actors, people who are new in the industry. Everyone knows Miracle Chinga as a gospel artist, but now she is featuring in a movie. People also know me as a socialite on social media, but this time they will see me as an actress,” she said.

Chabuka said the movie blends new actors with experienced ones, which she believes will bring out the best from both sides.

“We also have big names in the industry such as Edwin Chonde and Joyce Mhango Chavula. Mixing experienced actors with new ones will produce something good,” she said.

The movie’s director, Isaac Misoya, said Royal Dilemma reflects Malawian culture in a modern setting.

“The movie shows our culture, traditions and way of life as Malawians. It reflects what people already know and how we live, but in a unique and modern setting,” he said.

Chinga said she looks forward to exploring her talent as an actress in the new movie.

“Malawians will appreciate my acting. It is a very good movie,” she said.

On his part, Chonde said the movie stands out because it brings together people from different areas of the entertainment industry, including music, social media and film.

“This movie has veterans and new actors. We have people known from other platforms, including Miracle Chinga making her debut. There are also faces people have never seen before and they have delivered,” he said.

The movie cost K50 million to produce.
